Check on this nice little interview with Neil Gaiman on the DC Vertigo website. Also, check out Gaiman's online journal.

When the time comes to travel down to the Coachella Music Festival, I'm planning on stopping by a couple of In-N-Out Burgers on the way. Ever since watching the The Big Lebowski I've been curious about what makes the In-N-Out "a good burger." Not only that, but I've heard from people who traveled around California of how In-N-Outs had only three simple burgers on its menu: the hamburger, the cheeseburger, and the double-double (double cheeseburger). However, In-N-Outs have a secret menu.

I figure I'll have a couple of double-doubles and fresh-cut fries before I reach Indio and I'll probably grab some "animal-style" burgers on the way back. Yay for food!

Every morning I wake up and turn on the TV. I check the news to make sure that the world hasn't blown up. Then I take a shower, check my email, eat some toast, and begin my day.

Pete and Pete was an awesome show. I thought that living in the Petes' neighborhood would have been highly entertaining, to say the least. I love the characters and the weird plots and all the odd cameos on the show (Steve Buscemi and REM's Michael Stipe come to mind). I did happen to catch an episode or two when I was at my parents' house over winter break. Reruns are being shown on the N, a kids cable channel. My parents get a over a hundred channels through a package they bought from AT&T/Comcast digital cable, so I don't think you can get it on basic.

Here's Pete and Pete's schedule on the N. Good luck on finding some P&P action, Connie.

Crunchy.

My Tony's Sausage and Pepperoni pizza came out a little overdone.

Yesterday, I interviewed a gentleman from Pipeworks Software a small game studio in Eugene. He and his co-workers are responsible for the Godzilla: Destroy All Monsters game for the Nintendo GameCube. It was very cool to hear him talk about how he got into the game industry (he majored in Physics, Theater, and Philosophy) and how he went from a educational software company in NYC to Dark Horse Interactive in Portland and then got invited by a childhood friend to come work at Pipeworks. Learning how a game goes from being developed by a small group of developers to being published by a huge game company (in this case, Infogrames) is fascinating.

Why am I talking to a video game expert? That's because I'm doing a story on the local game industry for my Reporting class.

I'm supposed to interview the art director at BraveTree Productions, another local game studio, on Monday morning, the day the first draft of this feature story is due. It's really hard to snag these interviews because these small company guys are very busy. I don't think that these studios have more than 20 people working at one time, so everyone is busy. Luckily Simon, the guy from Pipeworks, is the only person at Pipeworks who isn't needed at the moment because all the work right now is going into coding the Godzilla game for the Xbox, and Simon is a creative designer.

Anyway, thought I'd send a fun comic link your way. Scary Go Round is a quirky comic by a British artist. The last of four parts has been completed and they all make up a great and funny story. His characters are from an older comic of his, but you don't need to read it to get an understanding of what they're like. Scary Go Round is cute, fun, and filled with British wit. Go look.

Connie's notes are here. Yay!

Note to Connie: Don't forget to hit "publish" after you write a post or it won't show up on this website. So even though it says you posted at 1 a.m. it didn't show up until I published it for you right now. Blogger is kind of weird that way. You have to post first, then publish. Or you can hit the "post & publish" button to do them in one click.
